Just a quick note since I’m too tired to blog; besides, Beth already did it! LOL!
The littles and I were without a vehicle today since Eli and Beth took the van to work with the clean up crew. Vaughn, Jake, and Thomas, took the truck to return the skidsteer to the rental store, then caught up with the others.
I spent part of the afternoon in the distribution center. I was not scheduled to work, but was pleasantly surprised to find everyone working on marking out or removing the UPCs. LOL! So, I stuck around and helped (and chatted too!). 😉 And, a lady came in searching for Gatorade, and we found out that she was from the animal shelters (she had ID), so she made 2 trips and took all the vet supplies that we had – I had not been able to deliver them, even when I found out they would take them a few days ago, without V’s truck. Yay! One room cleaned out! LOL!
Tonight when the bigs got home, I fried hamburgers (don’t have a grill with us), then they went back to share time with the cleanup crew. They have a whole new team this week (except for the Crazy Canuck, thankfully), and Eli and Beth are mourning the one from last week a little bit. They are working with some fun people this week too, but sometimes there are just special kindred spirits that you meet…and they are missing those connections from last week.
For Eli, last week it was a dear gentleman named Robert that really encouraged and supported Eli in his career dreams, gave him sound advice, and spoke to him as a mature, Godly mentor. Then tonight, Vaughn happened to run across Eli and some guy V hasn’t even seen before talking – the guy was telling Eli that he noticed his genuine joy, and how he can tell it comes from God, and that he knows that God is going to use that joy in a mighty way! I’m telling you – WE are so much more blessed to be down here than we could possibly work off on the end of those shovels and chainsaws, even if we had months!!!
Anyway, their day was much more eventful than ours here (tho we did get baths done, and dishes, and vacuuming…all those things that keep needing to be done no matter where you are or why you are there…). You can catch Beth’s blog post for today at A Life of Journeys. As for me, I’m off to sleep before midnight! The first time since we got here I think! Night all!!! 🙂
