Family Friendly Clark County Shooting Complex, Las Vegas, NV…

This year, we spent some time in Nevada.   Our oldest son came to travel with us for a few weeks, and we met him in Las Vegas.  Las Vegas isn’t exactly the most family friendly town – in fact, it’s one of our least favorite places to visit!  But, there are a few family-friendly destinations that we have ferreted out and enjoy repeat visits to.

We love Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area (you can read about our visit to RRC here), and Valley of Fire State Park is a must see.  LV does have a newly redesigned children’s museum, the Discovery Children’s Museum, which is supposed to be fabulous.
For us tho, the main draw to Las Vegas is the Clark County Shooting Complex!  We love the range here, and shooting together is one of our favorite things to do.

We believe that education is the key to safety, so we teach our children about guns early, so even the little girls, down to Molly, shoot.   (Greg and Jake are at the next table…)

The Clark County Shooting Range in Las Vegas is a great family-friendly shooting sports destination!

The Clark County Shooting Complex is very affordable.  It has nice great facilities for pistol and rifle shooting, skeet, archery, and a new course that is somewhat of a cross between golf and sporting clays.  I’m thinking next time we will bring our shotguns so we can try it out!

The handgun/rifle range is super affordable!  It is $9 per day per adult to shoot, and minors (17 and under) are free to shoot with a parent!  That’s an extra great deal for our tribe!   Everyone must watch a safety and procedure video, then check in with the range boss.  Shooting is in 20 minute segments, with breaks for target changes.

The Clark County Shooting Complex campground has 80 full hookup sites at $20 a night (or $400 for a month, with a max one month stay).  The park is just a large parking lot, but it is super spacious, level, and convenient (there is a target and a Costco just down the road).   It’s our choice for where to stay while visiting LV; it works great for us since we don’t visit downtown.

If you will be visiting the Las Vegas area, and enjoy shooting sports, this is THE place to be!  Check them out on their site at Clark County Shooting Complex and maybe we’ll see you there!  :)

WE are about to embark on a journey also! We are leaving next week to begin a year long (at least) excursion around the US to travel and be involved where the Lord leads us. I have been doing allot of research and trying to figure out if we want to take our guns with us. Can you tell us if you guys have traveled with your guns and if you have any info that you can pass along? WE have handguns, rifles, and shotguns but it is so confusing on different state laws on having them.

  2. Thank you, thank you! I am so glad you did a review of our Clark County shooting complex here in Las Vegas. The facility is wonderful but has received some negative feedback for being too regimented for some gun owners. I think it is great, especially for families. Clean facilities, shade, seats and a snack bar what more could you want? I’ve told many about the camping area, it’s not the prettiest campground but does have level sites and a great nighttime view. Thank you again, safe travels!

    • Hi Jami!
We LOVE the CCSC! We’ve been there several times over the years, and it is a must for anytime we are in AZ/NV/CA! It did take a bit for us to get used to the rules – it is probably the most regimented range we have been to, but it is also the largest and busiest. We appreciate the stringent safety rules and regulations – they are an important safety factor when shooting with others that you don’t know well (or at all! lol.)
You are right, the camping area is not the prettiest, but it is level and clean, and the view is great! It is also inexpensive for the amenities! A must stop for us in LV even though we have a camping membership that gives us free stays in one of their parks in Las Vegas.
Can’t wait to head back there this winter again!
      :) Dana
